Plain summary: This Portal is a free academic resource. It has no login, no forms, and no database of users. The only data involved is what Google collects through advertising and fonts. We do not sell, share, or profit from your personal data.

Who We Are

This Privacy Policy applies to the Word-by-Word Quran Morphology Portal — an independent academic project published at morphology.kanzulilm.com.

The Portal is developed, maintained, and directed by Mufti Syed Muhammad Usman Bukhari, founding director of Kanz ul Ilm International — an Islamic educational research institution established in 2009. Our work is motivated by a sincere commitment to making the Quranic sciences accessible to students, researchers, and seekers of knowledge across the world, regardless of their background or resources.

This Portal presents the complete word-by-word morphological and grammatical analysis of the Holy Qur'an — all 114 Surahs, 6,236 verses, and over 80,000 words — entirely free of charge. Operational costs are partially met through minimal advertising revenue, as disclosed fully in this policy.

For the purposes of data protection law, Kanz ul Ilm International is the data controller for this Portal.

What We Collect

We want to be completely honest here: this Portal does not have a backend server, a database, or a user account system. It is a single, self-contained HTML file. We do not actively collect your name, email address, or any personal details.

However, when you visit any website, certain technical information is exchanged as a normal part of how the internet works. This includes:

Type of Data Who Collects It Why
IP address Cloudflare / hosting provider Security, routing, and abuse prevention
Browser & device type Cloudflare / Google Page rendering and ad targeting
Pages visited, time on site Google AdSense Ad performance measurement
Geographic region (country) Google / Cloudflare Localized ads and CDN routing
Referring URL Cloudflare / Google Understanding how visitors find us
Font requests Google Fonts Loading Arabic and English typefaces
None of this data is collected by us directly or stored on any server we operate. It is processed entirely by the third-party services listed in Section 05.

Cookies & Tracking Technologies

A cookie is a small file that a website places on your device to remember information about your visit. This Portal itself sets no first-party cookies of its own. However, the third-party services we use — particularly Google AdSense — do set cookies.

Cookies Set by Third Parties

Your Cookie Choices

When you first visit this Portal, a consent banner appears at the bottom of your screen. You may choose to Accept or Decline non-essential cookies. You can also manage or delete cookies at any time through your browser settings. Most browsers allow you to:

Please note that declining advertising cookies will not remove ads from the Portal — it will only make them less relevant to your interests. For industry-wide opt-out tools, visit aboutads.info or youronlinechoices.eu.

Advertising (Google AdSense)

To keep this academic resource free and publicly accessible, this Portal displays advertisements through Google AdSense, operated by Google LLC (1600 Amphitheatre Parkway, Mountain View, CA 94043, USA).

We want to be transparent: advertising revenue helps cover the real costs of server hosting and technical maintenance. Without it, maintaining a free public resource of this scale would not be sustainable. We have chosen a minimal advertising approach — small, unobtrusive ad placements that do not interfere with the scholarly content.

Important: Kanz ul Ilm International does not control which specific advertisements appear, nor does it have access to any individual-level data that Google collects through its advertising system.

How Interest-Based Advertising Works

Google AdSense may use cookies and similar technologies to show you advertisements based on your previous browsing activity — on this Portal and on other websites across the internet. This is called interest-based or personalized advertising.

How to Opt Out

For full details on how Google uses data when you visit partner sites, please read: How Google uses data from sites that use our services.

Third-Party Services

This Portal relies on the following trusted third-party services to function correctly. Each has its own privacy policy, which we encourage you to review.

ServicePurposePrivacy Policy
Google AdSense Advertisement delivery View
Google Fonts Arabic & English typefaces View
Cloudflare Hosting, CDN & security View

We have no control over the data practices of these services and are not responsible for their privacy policies or content.

How We Use Information

The limited information processed in connection with this Portal is used only for the following purposes:

We do not use any data for marketing, user profiling, or any purpose unrelated to the free provision of this academic resource.

Data Retention

Because this Portal does not operate its own database or server-side data storage, we do not retain any personal data ourselves.

Data retained by third-party services is governed by their own retention policies. As a general reference:

Cookies stored on your own device persist for varying durations depending on the cookie type — from session cookies that expire when you close your browser, to persistent cookies that may last up to 2 years (in the case of some advertising cookies). You may delete these at any time through your browser settings.

Data Sharing & Disclosure

Kanz ul Ilm International does not sell, rent, trade, or share personal data with any third party for commercial purposes.

We may disclose information only in these narrow circumstances:

In practice, because we hold no personal data ourselves, sharing requests of this nature would be directed to the relevant third-party services (Google, Cloudflare) rather than to us.

Children's Privacy

This Portal is a scholarly Quranic reference tool suitable for all ages, including young students of Islamic studies. We welcome learners of every background and age.

However, we do not knowingly solicit or collect personal information from children under the age of 13, or under the applicable age of digital consent in their jurisdiction (16 in many European countries under GDPR).

Since the Portal includes no registration, login, or data submission forms, no personal information is actively requested from any user regardless of age. The advertising displayed through Google AdSense is subject to Google's own policies on child-directed content and COPPA compliance.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has submitted personal information through contact email, please write to us at info@kanzulilm.com and we will take immediate steps to address your concern.

Your Rights & Choices

Regardless of where you are in the world, you have meaningful choices about your data. Here is what you can do:

Because we do not operate our own user database, most data-rights requests (access, deletion, portability) will need to be directed to Google or Cloudflare directly, as they are the entities that actually hold any data about your visit.

European Users — GDPR

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) or applicable national equivalents apply to the processing of your personal data.

Legal Basis for Processing

Your GDPR Rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to:

To exercise any of these rights, please contact us at info@kanzulilm.com. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your national supervisory authority.

California Residents — CCPA

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA) grants you specific rights regarding your personal information.

Your CCPA Rights

Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information: Kanz ul Ilm International does not sell personal information. We do share limited technical data with Google for advertising purposes, which may constitute "sharing" under CCPA. You may opt out of this through Google Ads Settings or the cookie consent banner on this Portal.

To exercise your CCPA rights, contact us at info@kanzulilm.com with the subject line "CCPA Request." We will respond within 45 days.

Security

We take the security of this Portal seriously and have implemented appropriate technical measures, including:

While we have taken reasonable precautions, no method of transmission over the internet is entirely secure. We encourage you to use an up-to-date browser and to exercise your own good judgment when sharing any information online.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, the services we use, or applicable legal requirements. When we do, the updated policy will be published at this URL.

We encourage you to review this policy periodically. Your continued use of the Portal after any update constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.

If a change is significant — for example, if we were to begin collecting new categories of personal data — we will make reasonable efforts to draw your attention to it when you next visit the Portal.

Contact Us

We genuinely welcome your questions and feedback. If anything in this policy is unclear, or if you wish to exercise any of your privacy rights, please reach out to us. We are a small, dedicated academic team and we read every message.
